About the Artist

Artist Statement – Andreas Nagel is a painter living and working in Brühl, Germany. His figurative paintings range from intimate portraiture to expansive landscapes, infused with social, psychological, and mystical themes. Distorted figures and surreal scenery separate his works from photographic ideals, creating a deeply personal reality that is uncompromising, twisted, and offbeat.

“Art is a powerful visual language. I employ fantasy and satire to unravel the complexities of the human story. My works are rich in symbolism, reflecting both personal experience and broader human concerns. They mirror contradictions within us all—light and dark, peace and violence, life and death. These dualities permeate our existence. Despite a conflicted outlook, I weave humor through the narratives, conveying the absurdity and pathos of human situations.” – Andreas Nagel
